Nimona
is a graphic novel that centers around a shapeshifter named Nimona who pairs herself with a supervillian named Lord Ballister Blackheart. They go on adventures together, and their archnemesis is named Sir Ambrosius Goldenloin. That name is all the incentive you need to read this wonderful piece of art. The graphic novel, written and drawn by Noelle Stevenson, began as a web series. Stevenson also has many other web comics available on her website (Look them up! They’re so weird and cute!). It is a hilarious, sweet, and wonderfully creative quick read. Go read and then come find me so we can squeal about this!
Throne of Glass
is a whirlwind of a book series. But let’s just start with the first book. The first book in the
Throne of Glass
series tells the journey of Celaena Sardothien, a nineteen-year-old assassin, who is the very best at what she does (killing people). She lives in the kingdom of Adarlan, whose king is basically overthrowing all of the other kingdoms on their continent. She enters this tournament to compete to be the King’s Assassin (or something like that), at the request of the Prince of Adarlan, Dorian Havillard, and The Captain of Adarlan’s Guard, Chaol Westfall. This fantasy book, and the ones following, will leave you breathless with its fantastical lands, intriguing people, and alluring magic.

If you are not aware of the Vlogbrothers, then I don’t know what you are doing with you life. They are great: two brothers and equal amounts of knowledge and awkwardness. Just stop reading this, go on YouTube, watch at least fifteen of their videos, and then come back and we can discuss. For those of you who did not listen to that sage advice, the Vlogbrothers are two brothers, Hank and John Green, who started making four minute videos as a project to only talk via vlogs for one year (also called Brotherhood 2.0). Then people started watching their videos. Brotherhood 2.0 eventually ended, but they continued to make videos and do awesome things because of their accidental fanbase. Their fans are individually known as Nerdfighters and collectively as Nerdfighteria Some of the awesome things that they do is the Project For Awesome, which is a project where YouTubers make cool videos that promote their charity of choice and upload it before a deadline. It is awesome; everything they do is awesome. They even popularized the phrase, “Don’t Forget To Be Awesome,” or more commonly known from its initialism, DFTBA. Summarization of the Vlogbrothers: they are awesome, the things that they do are awesome, those who know and support them are awesome, etc. One reminder: don’t forget to be awesome.
